Hello friends! Audio Footnote 1.2 is coming along nicely and I’ll be sending builds to beta testers soon! If you’d like to help out in the effort to squash the last remaining bugs, drop me a line.
A few weeks ago I was interviewed by The Journal Record, a local business magazine, about Audio Footnote for their series on Creativity in Oklahoma. There’s some footage of the new features in action that might interest you. Watch the video below.
One of my goals for Audio Footnote is to see it in use by students who listen to educational podcasts and audiobooks on their iPhones and iPods. I’ve been contacted by users who use Audio Footnote while studying everything from theology to foreign languages. Using Audio Footnote, they’re able to record important notes about the material being studied and email their notes to themselves or their fellow students.
Now, if you’re an educator, you can buy Audio Footnote at 50% off when you purchase 20 or more copies for your class! For more information visit the Apple in Education page or contact your Apple representative at 1-800-800-2775.
I’ve been talking up the next release of Audio Footnote for a couple of months, I know. And I had hoped to have it in your hands by now. However, with the release of iOS 4 as well as the iPhone 4 in the middle of our development cycle, you can imagine my development partner and I have been spending some time making sure things work and look just right.
We’re working on getting the best Audio Footnote update EVAR to you as quick as we can. Your patience will be rewarded with:
Thank you for your continued support and please leave a star rating or review in iTunes if you haven’t already.
Best regards,
Eric Granata
Audio Footnote recently appeared in Oklahoma’s The Journal Record, a daily business publication. Screen Four Software is based in Oklahoma City and I couldn’t be happier for it. There is a fantastic community of smart, creative and business savvy people in Oklahoma City and without their encouragement, I don’t know if Audio Footnote would ever have been much more than an idea for an app that would be nice to have.
From the article:
Eric Granata has long enjoyed listening to audio books and podcasts, especially on his daily commute and on long trips. But his inability to make notes about something he’d like to remember later spurred him to find a solution. [read the entire article, subscription required...]
Did you know that you can use Evernote to back-up your most important audio footnotes to the web, sort and share them with friends? All you need is an Evernote account and Audio Footnote for iPhone or iPod Touch to get started!
In your Evernote account settings, take note of the email address you can email your notes to. Save this email address as a contact in the Contacts app on your iPhone. Now, when you want to send a note to Evernote, just choose this special email address as the recipient. Your note information and audio file* will then be sent to your Evernote account! You can even tag your note and place into a specific notebook by following these instructions.
Give it a try today and get more out of your audiobooks and podcasts with Audio Footnote and more out of your audio footnotes with Evernote!
*sending audio file to Evernote requires an Evernote premium account, but we’re working on a fix for free users

Last night I demoed Audio Footnote to the public for the first time at OpenBeta3 in Oklahoma City. I’d have photos, but I was too busy pitching the app to take pictures. If you missed it, you missed out because in addition to showing a video of how the app works, I presented “The Master Plan” for Audio Footnote. What is “The Master Plan?” I can’t tell you. You should have been there. It was neat.
Jake Behrens and the rest of the judges saw fit to present me with the Best in Show Demo award. Many thanks to them all and Derrick Parkhurst, Chad Henderson, Tommy Yi and the rest of the OKCCoCo crew (thanks Maeghan) for helping to usher in the technology renaissance in Oklahoma. It really is exciting around here these days.
Other highlights from my time last night:
So what does winning this award mean for Screen Four and Audio Footnote? Well, I think it means I’ll get to share some space with the other OpenBeta Best in Show award winners at the InnoTech conference in OKC on November 4th. That’s fun! Development will, of course, be further along so if you want to come by and check it out, please do! It’ll be keen. I might even give something away.
Not sure about this whole Audio Footnote thing? Still don’t know what it does? Visit AudioFootnote.com and check it out! I’m hoping to get it into the iTunes App Store in a few weeks.
